I made it to London. The 9 hour direct flight from Calgary was uneventful, so was the ride on the tube in from the airport. My hand held GPS device is amazing. With it I was able to walk straight from the subway station to the hotel I originally had in mind. Then it was just a short walk from there to where I'm staying now which is just as nice and much cheaper.
It was kind of funny walking around this area carrying the Rick Steve's travel guide. I ran into others with the same book doing the same thing as me.
Once I got settled into my hotel room and cleaned up after the long trip I went out for a nice long walk and some site seeing before a late dinner.
Here are a few photos from today.
Here's Victoria Station, the underground station nearest to my hotel.
Westminster Abbey and Big Ben off to the left.
Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and yours truly. The London Eye is to my left.
