Peggy's Cove is just a short drive to the south east of Halifax. When you approach Peggy's Cove the scenery looks like it is from out of this world.
Most of the pictures below speak for themselves.
The big continuous spread rock around the lighthouse some ways reminded of the famous Slick Rock mountain biking trail in Moab, Utah.
The Swissair Flight 111 Memorial is just a short distance from Peggy's Cove. This shot is taken from the Memorial looking towards the lighthouse.
This is what you see as you approach the memorial from the back side (the parking lot). The crash site is over on the horizon in the centre of the two big round rocks.
When you walk around to the front of the memorial you find the following text on the rock on the left:
IN MEMORY OF
THE 229 MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN
ABOARD SWISSAIR FLIGHT 111
WHO PERISHED OFF THESE SHORES
SEPTEMBER 2, 1998
THEY HAVE BEEN JOINED TO THE
SEAN AND THE SKY
MAY THEY REST IN PEACE
and this on the rock on the right:
IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF
ALL THOSE WHO WORKED TIRELESSLY
TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN THE RECOVERY
OPERATIONS AND COMFORT TO THE FAMILIES
AND THEIR FRIENDS DURING A TIME OF DISTRESS
